3 Months and Gassy Should I Stop Breastfeeding?

by Rhonda Rushton
(Houston, Texas, U.S.)

Visitor Question: I have a very healthy 13lb 3 month old but she is REALLY gassy and wakes up at night because of it. Should I switch to formula?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: Breast milk is by far easier to digest than formula. Switching to formula at this point is likely to make matters much worse and you will likely have a very unhappy baby to deal with.

Try some putting some simethicone drops in your baby's mouth a few times a day and see if that helps.

Good luck!
