Breastfeeding and Pregnancy Test Results

Breastfeeding and Pregnancy

Breastfeeding and Pregnancy

Visitor Question: Can you get a false result from a pregnancy test while you are breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: Breastfeeding should have no effect on a pregnancy test. Most home pregnancy tests are accurate by the time your period would be due.

However, I know several people who have gotten negative results from a pregnancy test taken at at 4 weeks and then a week later, gotten a positive one.

So if you get a negative result and feel pregnant...you may want to repeat the test in another week.

However, tests rarely show a false positive.

Breastfeeding doesn't change the results at all.

Good luck!
