Breastfeeding and Pregnant

Breastfeeding and Pregnant

Breastfeeding and Pregnant

Visitor Question: I have been breastfeeding the whole time and now my child is 9 months old. I started my period for the first time on July 1 and again on Aug 3, but this month it hasn't came. I have taken several test but they all are negative. I have been very gassy and irritable. Could I be pregnant or just late?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: It is very normal for a breastfeeding mother to have irregular periods. If the tests have come back negative, you are probably not pregnant and nursing is probably suppressing your menstruation.

However, if you still have some symptoms of pregnancy and still haven't had your period in another week or two, try another test to be sure.

Pregnancy tests are EXTREMELY accurate when you are more than two weeks late.

Good luck!
