Breastfeeding and Reglan

Reglan for Breastfeeding Moms

Do you need to increase your breast milk supply? Then you may have questions about breastfeeding and Reglan.

Although Reglan (which also goes by Metoclopramide or Maxeran)was commonly used by some women in the past and is still prescribed by some doctors...now there are some better choices.

Reglan is an older prescription medication that is successful in increasing the milk production in some moms. However, I would caution you against trying it because about 10% of all mothers treated with it report nervousness, depression, fatigue, and irritability.

These frequent side effects have made its use for many breastfeeding mothers just unacceptable.

Ask your doctor for an alternative like domperidone (Motilium), which has a lot fewer side effects. It does not enter the brain tissue in significant amounts and most mommies report an increase in breast milk supply without all those nasty side effects! You may also want to try an herbal supplement of fenugreek which works well for a lot of moms!
