Breastfeeding on Alternate Sides

Visitor Question: My baby is 8 weeks old and has only had my breast milk, for about a week now he seems to only want one breast at feeding time i don't pump the other one i just wait to feed him it at next feeding so I'm alternating, will this cause my milk supply to dry?

Breastfeeding-Magazine Response: This is not a problem at all. Some babies just prefer to eat this way. Your body (and your breasts) will adjust accordingly.

Contrary to what some women were taught, a baby does not have to eat from both breasts each time! In fact, allowing a baby to finish each side instead of switching too early can prevent oversupply issues.

So relax and do what works best for you and your baby!
