Breastfeeding Saved my Friend’s Life

Jo's Story

Breastfeeding saved my friend’s life. She had migraine headaches, but since she was nursing her son, she took no medication for them.

Her doctors encouraged her to stop nursing and take the medications so that the pain would go away. She refused. She wanted to continue to nurse.

It got so bad that the doctor sent her for some tests. She had lung cancer.

If she had taken the medication, it would have masked the symptoms. Then by the time it would have been discovered, it would have been too late.

It has been 10 years. She is cancer free and nursed her second child, too.

In her case, breastfeeding ended up saving her life.
