Determination (Visitor Working and Breastfeeding Tip)

Even my husband was doubtful that I could continue breastfeeding after returning to work but I was determined to do this for my baby.

I bought the Medela In-Style breast pump and collected and froze a few bags of expressed milk before returning to work.

Prior to my return I worked with my boss and the HR department to find a private place to pump. They found me a file room that I could lock. It wasn't the best place for it but I made it work. People who used the file room eventually figured out why I would lock myself in there a few times each day. When I told them what I was doing, everyone was okay with it.

I set a schedule for myself and did my best to stick to it. I pumped 3 times a day for about 15 minutes each time. Since that equals 45 minutes out of my day and I am paid hourly, I opted to eat lunch at my desk during this time.

I made it a habit and I got used to pumping and I was successful. I pumped for a year and I am so grateful that it worked out for me.

If you want to do it...you can with determination!
