Three Babies with Three Different Experiences
Submitted by Julie B. (Washington, USA) My first daughter Teagen was only breastfeed for 2 weeks she was tongue tied and could not latch on correctly. I was so disappointed I cried when my husband gave her the first bottle. I hated seeing my baby eating anything but breast milk. I didn't pump my milk with her because I was a little depressed and my milk dried up almost instantly. But she is a healthy 6 year old kindergartner and is more than above most of her class. My son is 3 and I nursed him for 3 months, I was unable to produce enough milk for him. I was on a special birth control pill that limited my supply so we supplemented formula, he was a very happy baby. Glad to have mommies milk but so happy to have that calorie filled formula. He is a hefty little man, and as healthy as can be. My baby Talise is 15 month old and has never had a bottle, I praise myself for being able to give her all that she needs. She eats regular food and drinks for a sippy cup but she always comes to me to nurse. I love the time I get with her, just watching her nurse, she plays with my hair and just gazes into my eyes. It makes me sad that she will someday grow out of this. But I will enjoy it as long as she lets me. I believe in self weaning and I plan to nurse her as long as she pleases.
