Give Me Electric or Just the Breast! (Visitor Review)

Give Me Electric or Just the Breast!

Give Me Electric or Just the Breast!

I breast fed my daughter the first three months. Upon returning to work and taking the "breast is best" to heart, I bought a Avent Manual Breast Pump.

The only pro it had at the time was being cheap, compared to the $200+ electric pumps I could buy or even rent.

The cons became apparent rather rapidly. We had to buy Avent bottles - not cheap. It washed moderately well in the dishwasher, but a few melted.

Then there was the effort to pump. The worst day was when my daughter was crying and my husband gave her formula because I couldn't get enough milk out fast enough, and the nipple was so sore from trying to pump for the 15 minutes prior that I couldn't nurse.

I suggest that you either nurse the old fashioned way or get an electric breast pump. Do NOT buy a hand pump.
