Greeny Watery Poop

Greeny Watery Poop

Greeny Watery Poop

Visitor Question: All the sudden my baby has green watery poop? Do you think he needs to go to the doctor?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: There are a number of reasons why your baby's diapers may have green poop.

1. If your baby is eating solids, it may be the green beans or peas he ate. Babies often have diapers that resemble the baby food that they just finished eating.

2. He could have an upset stomach. Just keep an eye on him for any other symptoms. If it is accompanied by a fever or vomiting, you should definately call your doctor.

3. It may be a case of oversupply... meaning mom may have too much foremilk. Check for oversupply symptoms to see if this may be the issue and ways to deal with it.

Babies' poop can change color and texture often especially once they start eating solids. Just keep an eye open for other symptoms...and if it persists, it never hurts to check in with the doctor.

Good luck!
