I Almost Gave Up! Isis Manual Pump Review

Knowing I had to go back to work and not wanting to lug an expensive electric pump to and from the office, I tried the Avent Isis manual pump. What a mistake!
My daughter was just a few weeks old when I decided to try out the pump to make sure it would be easy and quick to use. I set everything up in a quiet area and went to work. A very short while later I was in tears.
First off there was no suction. I could leak faster than the pump would suck. I tried everything I could to get a solid seal with no luck. When I would get positioned so there was a bit of suction the pain was incredible. I expected some pain but nothing like that! The few minutes I tried left my nipples sore and my opinion on pumping changed.
I gave the pump to a girl in my office who was also breastfeeding to see if she could get any better results, and she had the same experience. I was glad it wasn't just me!
I was lucky enough to find someone to lend me a Medela electric pump, which worked wonders from day one. I would NOT recommend the manual pump to anyone, especially new breastfeeding moms.
It honestly made me rethink my ideas about pumping and going back to work. Thank goodness for my Medela!
