Is it too late too start breastfeeding?

Is it too late too start breastfeeding?

Is it too late too start breastfeeding?

Visitor Question: My baby is 3 weeks old and being bottle feed on formula, is it too late to start breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: There is a very good chance that you could still breastfeed, but it will involve a lot more than it would have if you would have started from the beginning.

This process is called relactation. It is a two part process in which you attempt to teach the baby to take from the breast and to teach the body to start producing milk again.

For more information, see our relactation page.
