Learn to Feed while Lying Down and Get Some Sleep

by Nurturing Career Mama
(Devon, UK)

Visitor Breastfeeding Tip: My biggest breastfeeding tip is to learn to feed while lying down in bed, so that you can get a better night's sleep.

a) Lie on your side with babe next to you under your arm or on a pillow

b) Lie on your front with one arm bracing you so you don't flatten your chest and let babe drink in from the side. This means you don't have to move babe over from one side of the bed to the other to swap breasts, making night feeding much simpler. Not sure it would work when you are totally engorged though, I only discovered this when babe was about a year old.

All this also leads to, getting comfortable with the idea of safe co-sleeping. It makes breastfeeding sooo much easier.
