Medela Pump in Style (Visitor Breast Pump Review)

Pump in Style

Pump in Style

I received a Medela Pump in Style as a gift shortly after the birth of my son. He was in the NICU for six weeks, and so I needed something to pump breast milk for him. He never quite got the hang of latching, so I exclusively pumped milk for him.

For the first six months, this pump was excellent. It was relatively quiet, relatively quick, and the parts are easy to clean. I really liked that the tubing was designed so that no milk could flow back into it. I also really like that all of the Medela parts and bottles are BPA free.

Anything else I needed that wasn't included with the pump itself--like extra bottles for fridge storage or additional parts--were readily available at Target. Some of the other pumps I looked at needed replacement parts ordered direct.

However, after six months of exclusive pumping, the motor ran down. My pump stopped working! The motor has a one year guarantee; however, I received it as a gift and I don't have the receipt. Oh well.

I would purchase this again... but I would hang onto the receipt just in case trouble happened for a second time. Other moms I've talked to haven't had this problem with the PIS, so it might just have been mine.
