Nighttime Pumping

Nighttime Pumping

Nighttime Pumping

Visitor Question: My baby sleeps through the night at least 8hrs. Do I need to wake up and pump so my milk supply does not decrease? I really like the extra sleep but I don't want my milk supply to go away. She is 5months old.

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: Congratulations on getting your child to sleep through the night!

There is no need to wake up to pump, she will now just adjust to taking in more milk during the day to make up for what she is no longer getting from breastfeeding at night.

Your body will adjust too. Your milk will be available when she needs it!

Have a great nights sleep! You have earned it!
