Nursing and Frequent Colds

Nursing and Frequent Colds

Nursing and Frequent Colds

Visitor Question: I was wondering if it is normal to get sick frequently while nursing.

I have had one flu/cold every month since returning back to work and having my baby in daycare.

I continue to take my prenatals, sleep seven hours, eat pretty well, and my job keeps me active.

I am not a sickly person by nature and am not sure if there is something really wrong with me or if I am not doing something right.

The irony of this is that my baby has had two runny noses while me and my spouse are getting really sick. Thank you!

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: It is not ironic that your baby is so healthy, because you are still supplying great antibodies to keep your little one protected from germs.

You, on the other hand, are probably run down from all your new responsibilities at work and at home and are just catching all the germs that come into your home from work, daycare and everywhere else you go!

Keep eating right and try to get a little extra sleep and you should start feeling healthy again soon.

Good luck!
