Pumping Out "Bad Milk"

Pumping Out "Bad Milk"

Visitor Question:If I know my baby gets an upset stomach when I eat certain foods, when will it be in the milk so that I can pump it out and give her stored milk?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: Food and drink tend to metabolize into breast milk within 2-3 hours of eating or drinking.

In most cases, if you dump the next few times that your baby would eat, you should be fine.

Be aware, however, certain chemicals and drugs can stay in your system for weeks...so depending on what your little one is reacting to, it may be easier to give those things up for a while.

At first, just try replacing one feeding and see if it does the trick!

Good luck!
