Tandem Feeding

(Tandem Feeding)

Visitor Question: Will I always have enough milk for two if I am tandem breastfeeding? What foods should I eat more of to produce more milk? Will my health suffer if I tandem feed? Will it affect my teeth?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response: There is really no reason to stop nursing when you have multiple children because tandem breastfeeding does not harm a mother's health.

You can simply keep breastfeeding as long as each child wants.

You do not need to adjust the food that you eat as long as you are eating healthy and getting enough calories by following a good breastfeeding diet.

Just remember: a mom's milk is based on supply and demand, if you choose to breastfeed two, you will have enough to feed two.

Good luck!
