Tanning while Breastfeeding

Is it Safe to Tan?

Is it Safe to Tan?

Visitor Question:

I am developing seasonal depression from lack of sunlight where I live and I want to go tanning for a little bit and I am breastfeeding. I want to make sure it is safe to do so?

Breastfeeding Magazine Response:

Tanning will not effect breastfeeding and will not change your breast milk in any way. There is no evidence of any dangers to a nursing child in relation to tanning.

As long as you avoid products that contain Carotene (sometimes used to enhance the tanning) and protect your nipples from burn...then you should be fine!

Happy tanning!
